The world’s largest truck maker, Maxar, has announced its next-generation autonomous truck, the Maxar EZ.
Maxar said that the EZ is “the world’s most advanced self-driven vehicle” and will be used in the United States to replace conventional diesel trucks.
It will have fully self driving capability and be available for commercial use by the end of the decade.
The truck will have two engines, a front-mounted diesel engine and a fully electric motor.
Maxars founder and CEO Robert Maxar told a news conference that he wanted to offer the Ezz to truck drivers who had never before driven a fully autonomous truck.
“What I really wanted to do was give them the opportunity to see how it was possible,” he said.
“I believe in the future we can achieve the same thing with our vehicles.”
Maxar’s company said the Ez will be able to travel on roads that have a width of 50 meters (yards) and a top speed of up to 30 mph (50 kph).
The truck, which is expected to be released in 2020, will be fully autonomous, with no human input, said Maxar.
Maxard also said that Maxar would invest $10 billion in the next 20 years to build a new factory in Mexico.
“This is an investment that is going to change the world,” he told reporters.
“Mexico is our fourth-largest export market for our vehicles, and our truck will be the first one to have the best safety record in the world.”
The company said it plans to open the factory in 2019 and said that it would produce around 1,000 trucks a year.
“It will be a very exciting moment for us to be able work with our partners to bring this product to the U.S.,” Maxar added.
The announcement came on the same day that the United Kingdom’s biggest truck maker has announced plans to build two of its trucks with fully autonomous technology.
The British firm, Land Rover, said that its first self-propelled cargo truck, called the Roadrunner, will roll out later this year.
The company will have a fully self driven version that can travel up to 40 miles (65 kilometers) on a single charge.
The Roadrunner will be manufactured in the U .
K. and will use a combination of electric motors and batteries to help it reach 60 miles per hour (97 kilometers per hour) on electric power alone.
In addition, the RoadRunner will have sensors that will help the truck avoid obstacles.
Land Rover said that each of its three trucks will have its own GPS, camera and radar system.
The vehicles will be built by a company called Autonomy Truck, based in the Netherlands.
Maxer said that his company was able to build the self-powered truck because of its focus on safety.
“We’re really focused on making sure that the vehicles we produce can meet the safety requirements that we have,” he added.
“The safety record is really, really good and our customers are really satisfied with the vehicles that we make.”
In February, the United Arab Emirates banned the sale of all diesel trucks, citing concerns about the impact on traffic.
In June, a Chinese company unveiled a self-driving version of its truck that can go up to 100 mph on electric propulsion.
